Far Far West Secret Missions: Every Map's Hidden Objectives

What Counts as a Secret

Beyond the main bounty objectives, every map carries a fixed collectible set — 10 Hero Graves and 3 Music Discs per map — plus map-specific secret missions and questlines tied to NPCs. This page indexes them; the search terms players actually use (desert grave locations, hellfire secret, jungle secret mission, purple candles) each map to a real system below.

Purple Obelisks and Votive Candles

The purple candles everyone asks about are votive candles at purple obelisk sites. Obelisks appear on multiple maps (Far West and Canyon both list one); lighting the votive candles at an obelisk is the trigger for its secret encounter. If you’ve seen the purple glow and wondered what it does — that’s the entry point, not decoration.

New maps generally unlock by completing the questline of a specific NPC rather than by level — if a region is greyed out on the World Map, look for the quest giver first (maps guide).

The Medallions Run (Canyon)

The best-documented secret mission: collect the medallions scattered through Canyon to open its hidden encounter. The wiki dedicates a full page to it; expect a scavenger-hunt loop that rewards a chest at completion.

Frostburn Secrets

Hellfire shipped with its own secret and the Jungle gained instanced Jungle Dungeons — both from the Frostburn update. Community mapping of the Hellfire secret is still settling; we mark unverified spots as such rather than guessing.
